Lille OSC 0-0 Everton: Match Analysis

Tonight's match between Lille and Everton really wasn't the most exciting of matches but there were a few performances that stood out to me on the night.

Samuel Eto'o was one player who put in a performance for Everton tonight. Although he has only made 4 appearances for Everton in the Premier League this season (1 start and 3 substitutions), he showed tonight that he is more than capable of slotting into the Everton side and playing very well. He linked up nicely with Pienaar in the first half and almost put it home but couldn't quite get it out of his feet to bury it. He was also seen to be troubling the defenders all game, showing his experienced technical side from he previous playing days at Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Another player that impressed me was Divock Origi, who proved to be more than just a handful for the Everton back four. All game Leighton Baines was struggling to contain Origi's skill and pace and was caught out a few times where he flicked it past him or through his legs. He was unlucky not to have got a goal when Cruyff turn on the edge of  the box and struck it just wide of Howard's right post.

Overall the game was fairly dry apart from a few attacks from both sides so overall I would say a 0-0 was a fair result on the whole.
