I'm yet to see a reasonable argument as to why the shirt swap was disrespectful to Liverpool or indeed an issue for any football fan. Andre Santos' shirt swap with Robin Van Persie was subject of discussion a few years ago however this is completely different. Andre Santos angered the Gunners due to Van Persies recent movement away from the Emirates because he wanted to 'win trophies' and there belief that he wasn't loyal to them.
Balotelli and Liverpoool have no affiliation for centre back Pepe and he provoked no anger from anyone. Balotelli actually had one of his better performances for Liverpool on the night and was actually one of the better players for Liverpool.
Especially due to his torrid start for Liverpool, I think that the fans should really get behind Mario, rather than berating him for something as minor as a shirt swap. Although admittedly, it seems like the media have blown the swap out of proportion and Liverpool fans don't seem to be as bothered as the tabloids do.
