James Milner is not just a professional trier but also an extremely talented footballer. Milner has proven himself regularly when he is given the chance to play for Manchester City. He receives a bad press when playing for the national side because he's supposedly not as exciting as other players.
For Manchester City I believe James Milner performs to a very high standard and shows he has a lot of talent and flair down the line along with a hardworking personality and graft. In 5 games Milner assisted two goals, created an outstanding 16 chances and withheld an impressive 87.5% pass completion rate. These stats alone show that James is not just industrial but also an impressive footballer. Due to his advancement in ability Manuel Pellegrini has been forced to consider Milner as a first team starter rather than giving him a string of cameo roles when City are either comfortably ahead or need to shut up shop to grind out a victory as he had done before.

But should Milner be considered as a serious option for England's 2016 European Championship campaign and even the 2018 World Cup? Playing Milner against San Marino is ridiculous. I just cant see the motive in doing that. By playing Milner what are England achieving? The younger, less experienced players need to play in these types of games when we are almost certain of a victory. People always talk of lack of experience but the only way to gain it is by being given the chance.
I believe that as long as Milner is played down the right hand side rather than out of position in the centre he could play a very important role in qualification and during the tournaments against the big opposition when we are in need of a player with fantastic work rate but also the footballing ability at the very top level.
